FAQ
I am sure you have many questions. Here are a few first answers.
And what is even better than an FAQ is talking.
What is Integral Development Coaching?
Integral Development Coaching is a whole-person approach to development. It explores how we think, feel, relate, act and respond to the situations around us. Rather than focusing only on a goal or problem, it helps us notice patterns and perspectives that may be shaping what we do. Seeing more clearly can create more choice in how we respond and what becomes possible next.
Who do you work with as a coach?
I work with people navigating questions and turning points in work, leadership and life. This includes leaders, people building or changing businesses, people facing important decisions and people who want to understand recurring patterns or explore what may be possible next. My work is grounded in Integral Development Coaching and I coach in English and German, mostly online.
How do I know if coaching is right for me?
Coaching may be useful when you want to understand a situation more clearly, explore a decision, recognise recurring patterns or discover new possibilities in how you live, work or lead. The first conversation gives us an opportunity to explore what you need and whether coaching feels like the right form of support.
What kinds of questions can I bring to coaching?
You can bring questions from any part of life or work. They may relate to relationships, identity, decisions, recurring conflicts, leadership, building a business, starting something new or wondering what comes next. There is no perfect coaching question, and you do not need to have everything clearly formulated before we begin.
Can coaching help when I feel stuck?
Yes. Feeling stuck can be a sign that our familiar way of seeing or approaching a situation is no longer creating movement. Integral Development Coaching can help make patterns, assumptions and tensions more visible. The aim is not to force an answer, but to see the situation more clearly and create more possible ways forward.
Can coaching help with an important decision?
Yes. Coaching can be useful when a decision feels complex, uncertain or difficult to see clearly. Integral Development Coaching helps explore the different perspectives, assumptions and patterns that may be shaping the choices you currently see. The goal is not for the coach to make the decision for you, but to help you see more clearly so you can make your own choice with greater awareness.
When does coaching make sense during a career or life transition?
Coaching can be particularly useful at turning points: when you are considering a new role, leaving something behind, building something new, questioning what matters or simply sensing that the next chapter should look different. Integral Development Coaching creates space to explore what is changing, what may be holding you back and what possibilities you may not yet be seeing.
Can coaching help me change recurring patterns?
Yes. Recurring patterns can show up in how we think, react, communicate, make decisions or relate to others. Integral Development Coaching helps make these patterns more visible and explore what may be keeping them in place. Over time, this can create more choice in how you respond rather than automatically repeating what you have done before.
What is leadership coaching?
Leadership coaching helps leaders see more clearly how they think, relate, decide and respond in challenging situations. My approach is based on Integral Development Coaching, which looks beyond goals and performance to also explore patterns, relationships, emotions and ways of responding. It can be particularly useful when responsibilities change, relationships become difficult or familiar ways of leading no longer seem to work.
How is coaching different from mentoring or consulting?
A mentor or consultant will often bring their own experience, expertise or recommendations to a situation. Coaching works differently. My role as a coach is primarily to help you see your situation, yourself and the choices available to you more clearly. In my advisory work I may offer experience and perspectives directly, but in coaching the focus is on developing your own capacity to see and respond differently.
Do I need to know exactly what I want to work on?
No. You may arrive with a very clear question, or simply a sense that something does not feel right or needs to change. We can begin from there. Part of the work may be understanding what the real question is.
Will you tell me what to do?
No. I will not give you a ready-made answer. But that does not mean coaching is passive. I will listen closely, ask questions, share what I notice, challenge assumptions when useful and sometimes invite you to try something different. You decide what fits and what you want to do with it.
Is coaching therapy?
No. Coaching is not psychotherapy and does not diagnose or treat mental health conditions.
What is the difference between coaching and advisory?
In coaching, my role is not to give you the answer. I help you see your situation more clearly, understand what may be shaping it and create more choice in how you respond. In advisory work, I bring my own experience and perspective more directly. Sometimes what is useful is not a coaching process, but an outside view, specific experience or practical support around a business or leadership question.
What is your coaching qualification?
I trained in Integral Development Coaching through Thirdspace, in partnership with New Ventures West, completing an ICF Level 2 accredited coaching programme. The training takes a whole-person approach to development and includes cognitive, emotional, relational, somatic and developmental dimensions of coaching.
How does a first conversation work?
The first conversation is free and without obligation. It gives us a chance to meet, talk about what brings you here and see whether working together feels right. You do not need to arrive with a clearly defined goal. A question, a feeling that something needs to change or simply being curious about coaching is enough. We usually meet online for 30 to 45 minutes.
What is a typical coaching journey?
I usually work with an agreed number of sessions rather than one conversation at a time. A typical rhythm is one session every two weeks, with each conversation lasting 60 or 90 minutes. This gives us time not only to understand what is happening, but also to try things between sessions and learn from what changes.
Do you offer single coaching sessions?
Usually, I work across a series of sessions because meaningful change often develops over time. In some situations, however, a single conversation can be useful. We can talk about what would make sense for what you are bringing.
What happens between sessions?
Our work is not limited strictly to the sessions themselves. Between our conversations, there may be reflections, small practices, questions to sit with or things to notice and try in everyday life. Where useful, we may also exchange a short message, thought or piece of material between sessions. We will decide together what supports the work without making it feel like additional pressure.
Is coaching online or in person?
Both are possible. Most of my coaching takes place online, which works very well and allows me to work with people wherever they are. Depending on where you are and what makes sense, we can also meet in person.
What is personal development coaching?
Personal development coaching is about more than solving one immediate problem. It can help you understand recurring patterns, build greater self-awareness and develop new ways of responding to situations in life and work. In Integral Development Coaching, the aim is not simply to improve performance, but to expand how you see yourself, others and the choices available to you.
Is coaching available in English?
Yes. I coach in both English and German and am comfortable moving between the two if that is useful.
Is what I share confidential?
Yes. What you share in coaching is treated confidentially. Before we begin, we will agree clearly on how confidentiality works and discuss any necessary exceptions, such as legal obligations or a serious risk of harm. When coaching is sponsored by an organisation, we will also agree in advance what, if anything, may be shared with the organisation. The content of our conversations remains confidential unless we have explicitly agreed otherwise.
How much does coaching cost?
Fees depend on the length and format of our work. We can discuss this openly in our first conversation and agree on what feels appropriate for both of us.
What if Felix is not the right coach for me?
Then that is completely fine. The first conversation is also there to find out whether working together feels right for both of us. If I believe another coach, therapist or kind of support would be more useful for what you need, I will say so openly.
Is this life coaching, career coaching or leadership coaching?
People come to coaching with questions from life, work and leadership. I don’t separate these neatly into categories. Integral Development Coaching looks at the whole person and at how different parts of life influence each other.
Is executive coaching different from leadership coaching?
The terms often overlap. Executive coaching usually refers to coaching for people in senior leadership roles, while leadership coaching can apply more broadly to anyone leading people, teams or organisations. My work is not defined by job title or hierarchy. I work with people in different leadership contexts who want to reflect more deeply, navigate complexity and develop how they lead.
Can I work with you from anywhere in the world?
Yes. I work with clients globally online, so location is usually not a limitation. Sessions can also take place in person in Nuremberg, Germany. Coaching is available in both English and German.
